Devastation has struck the high-range villages of Wayanad, where massive landslides have left a trail of destruction, including ruined homes, swollen water bodies, and fallen trees. Following torrential rain on the morning of July 30, at least 36 lives have been lost, according to local authorities. In response to the tragedy, Prime Minister Narendra Modi has announced an ex-gratia payment of ₹2 lakh to the families of those who perished in the landslides that have impacted Kerala’s Wayanad.
